First, let me tell you a bit about myself. I started learning this course in 2017. If I remember correctly, at that time, only one or two companies in Kerala, based in Kochi, were providing this course. No one here even knew what it was.
With Bangalore Days (a popular Malayalam movie) vivid in my mind and the desire to live a colorful life away from home, I skipped Kochi and took a train straight to Bangalore. At that time, this course was already well-known in Bangalore with plenty of job openings. That’s where I completed my course. I hoped to secure a job there because before heading to Bangalore, no one here knew about this field, making it seem impossible to get a job in Kerala.
Despite being proficient in Hindi and my exceptional skills in content writing, I failed my first two interviews. During my third interview, I had to return home urgently. While on the train home, I received a job offer through LinkedIn from a company based in Kerala. Out of curiosity, I checked for openings in Kerala on Indeed and applied. The day after I arrived home, I attended two interviews and got both jobs. Within a week, I was employed. You might think I got the job easily because of high demand in Kerala, but it was actually a back-office position for a UAE company. At that time, this field had significant potential in the Middle East.
Anyone watching this video who entered the digital marketing field in 2017-18 would surely have faced the issue of explaining what their job is to relatives and villagers. Just hearing the word “marketing” made people think of someone carrying a bag and walking in the sun or something like a money chain scam. Eventually, I started telling people that I create advertisements, which made them think I was a designer.
Significant changes came to this field in Kerala by 2019. Today, you can simply Google or check any job site to see how much demand this field has. I shared my initial stage experience to help you understand the vast changes that have taken place in this field. There’s no doubt that the demand for this field will continue to grow.
